The blood runs through veins and vessels from other organs of the
body to the heart which pumps the heart and creates pressure. The
blood vessels ensure effective blood flow in the body and avoid back
flow of the blood. Many times due to illness, the valves become weak
and do not work properly. This leads to abnormally thick, twisted and
enlarged veins. These twisted and enlarged veins are called varicose
veins. Varicose veins commonly refer to vein of the leg although
these veins can be seen elsewhere in the body. One should be aware of
the information what causes varicose vein.
What causes varicose vein? Various researches and theories give
different causes for varicose veins. The common cause of varicose
veins is damaged and weakened valves that are found in the network of
blood vessels. When veins become varicose or twisted, the valves stop
working properly. Many times the reason cannot be found for the valve
to stop working. The back flow of the blood causes the vein to enlarge
and twist.
Environmental factors such as prolonged standing is the most common
factor, prolonged pressure on the veins causes twisted veins. People
working as waiters, flight attendants, sales assistants and others
doing other similar works undergo the problem of varicose
veins. Heredity is one of cause of varicose vein. If the disease
exists in any of the family member then it is likely that any member
in the coming generation could have it. Many a times, diet is also a
cause for varicose veins. Food rich in fat and sugar (not natural as
taken from fruits) can be a reason for the twisted veins. If the food
taken is with low fiber content then too it could lead to enlarged or
twisted veins.
Certain causes aggravate the problem of varicose veins. These are
pregnancy, obesity, chronic constipation, chronic cough or other
reasons that cause strain leading to varicose veins. Pregnancy
increases the blood volume and weight that causes pressure on the
veins of the legs. If a person stand too long then there is a
possibility of varicose veins as it strains the legs including the
veins. Obesity is one of the causes for varicose veins as an obsess
person has a lot of weight that continuously stress the legs. Chronic
cough or any other type of stress strains the veins for prolonged time
resulting in varicose veins. Surgery of the leg causes interrupted
flow of the blood that again leads to the veins to be enlarged or
twisted.
There are few causes of this disease; one is helpless about
abnormality of vein from birth and growing age. Some individuals have
abnormalities of the vein wall from birth that results in weakened
valves and may lead to varicose veins. Age is another factor that
responsible for varicose veins. With the passage of time, the
elasticity of the veins decreases that cause the veins to
stretch. This causes the blood to flow back and as said, it repeatedly
causes vesicular veins. Many findings tell what causes of varicose
veins. It is on us to carefully understand and find out the reason for
it and take care.
